This research examines how the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) influences organisational performance in Sri Lanka. The study was conducted using data collected from 83 ISO 9001-certified organisations across different industries.
The research focuses on five critical factors that may impact organisational performance: leadership, resource availability, operational efficiency, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement. Using statistical analysis methods including regression and decision tree models, the study identifies which factors most strongly contribute to performance outcomes.
The findings reveal that performance evaluation plays the most significant role in improving organisational performance, followed by continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and resource availability. While leadership is often considered a key factor in quality management systems, the results indicate that its influence in the Sri Lankan context is comparatively weaker.
Overall, the research provides valuable insights for organisations implementing ISO 9001, highlighting the importance of effective performance monitoring and continuous improvement to achieve better organisational results.
